How to Find Us - at The Museum of Dartmoor Life, Okehampton, Devon, UK

The museum is in West Devon in the centre of Okehampton.

From Exeter, leave the A30 dual carriageway, follow the brown signs and continue 1½ miles on the B3260 into the centre of Okehampton.

From the west, leave the A30 just beyond Sourton. Follow the brown signs. The museum & town centre are 2½ miles along the B3260.

There is a charge for admission.

Museum of Dartmoor Life at 3 West St. - entrance next to the White Hart Hotel.

Pay & Display car parks at: School Way, Mill Road, and Simmons Park (off Mill Road).

Traffic / pedestrian lights.

The Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is also in the museum courtyard.

For visitors with a Disability Pass there is parking in the museum car park.

from P3 School Way CAR PARK, cross School Way, walk south through Red Lion Yard shopping area, cross Fore Street, turn right, cross George Street, walk a few metres along West Street, just past the White Hart Hotel turn left into the Museum Courtyard.

from P2 Simmons Park CAR PARK, with the river on your left, walk to Mill Road, turn left (heading west) and walk .... past Station Road and the Post Office, turn left into Jacobs Pool then turn right past the postal vans and you will see the museum and its water wheel on your right;

Parking & walking to the museum of Dartmoor Life....

from P1 Mill Road CAR PARK walk out the way you drove in, turn left then left again at the traffic lights into East Street, walk along into Fore Street, cross George Street then just beyond the White Hart Hotel in West Street, turn left into the Museum Courtyard;

for P1 MILL ROAD CAR PARK, continue STRAIGHT ON at the Barton Road traffic lights then, at the next traffic lights, TURN LEFT into Mill Road then TURN RIGHT after about 50 metres into the car park;

for P2 SIMMONS PARK CAR PARK continue along Mill Road, BEAR RIGHT, over a pedestrian crossing then TURN LEFT - with the river now on your right - into the car park;

for P3 SCHOOL WAY CAR PARK continue on the B3260 past Mill Road up to the main traffic lights (White Hart Hotel, Westminster Bank, Lloyds Bank), TURN RIGHT into Market Street then TURN RIGHT at the ROUNDABOUT into School Way. After about 100 m the car park is on the left

or walk leaving from the top (south end) of Mill Road CAR PARK (by the WCs) along the river. At Mill Road, turn right (heading west) then follow Simmons Park instructions to the museum;

DRIVING to Oke’ CAR PARKS....

from the EAST (Exeter), leave the A30 dual carriageway at White House Services - signposted B3260 - then turn right, drive over the A30 and about 1½ miles descending the hill (Exeter Road) into Oke’, then....

from the WEST (Launceston, Tavistock), leave the A30 dual carriageway just beyond Sourton at Meldon - signposted B3260 - then follow this road for about 1½ miles which then makes a winding descent into West Street, Oke’ and the main traffic lights (White Hart Hotel, Westminster Bank, Lloyds Bank), then....

for P2 SIMMONS PARK CAR PARK, TURN RIGHT at these traffic lights into George Street, follow this around left (passing the Post Office and Station Road on your right) until it becomes Mill Road with Simmons Park on your right, TURN RIGHT, then - with the river now on your right - into the car park;

for P1 MILL ROAD CAR PARK, continue STRAIGHT ON at these traffic lights, over the pedestrian crossing (lights) then, at the next traffic lights TURN RIGHT into Mill Road then TURN RIGHT after about 50 metres into the car park;
